Sunday 6 May

We left Yeppoon at dawn on May 2nd and had some good breeze for the day sail of 50 miles to
Port Clinton. This was a very sheltered spot but it remained quite windy all night.
Easy to get into even at low tide but there was one spot going over the bar where
the depth was barely 1.0 metre under the keel.We spent one night there and then left for
Hexam Island 40 miles to the north and spent the night in a very pretty bay which was a
bit rolly. Yesterday, was a very leisurely sail of 23 miles to Middle Percy Island which
has the reputation of being very beautiful and popular but prone to swell. We were
fortunate to have some very benign weather at this time and last night was quite comfortable.
Huge six metre tides with the full moon require care with anchoring but the moonrise
and bright evenings are well worth it. We have no phone or internet here so no "words with Friends"
for a few days.We will spend a day or two here if the weather stays good and then proceed north
to Hamilton Island to meet Roger and Janice next week.
