0600H local time
We have been underway to New Caledonia
for the past 23hours and have made a
respectable 155 miles. We are going upwind
and it's a little bumpy but clear and dry.
We are going a little too fast, in fact, as
we will have to slow down overnight tonight
to make Havanah Pass, the entrance to the
fringing reef of New Caledonia at dawn tomorrow.
It probably can be done at night but I'm not
going to chance it and make an unforgivable
error. The wind is predicted to diminish over the
course of the day so we will have no problem
slowing down. Currently we are at 20 10.9S 167
44.6E on a course of 183M at 7.0 kts. The wind
is 14 kts apparent from the ESE. Seas are 2-4 feet
and the weather is clear and dry. All well on
board and we might do some fishing today.
